Covent Garden is known as Theatreland because of the sheer density of theatres here compared with the rest of London.
Whether it's the song and dance of the big shows like Mamma Mia, Miss Saigon or Chicago, the drama of the longest running play in the world, Agatha Christie's Mousetrap, or a night at the Royal Opera House, London's West End is superb entertainment for all.
While the big name Andrew Lloyd Webber shows grab the attention, some of the best plays are to be found away from the main Shaftesbury Avenue drag so read reviews and check all the listings - often world class actors give wonderful performances in quite small theatres so you may catch a real gem.
