Located in Kensington, London Gallery 19 was founded by Gordon French in 1995. As an avid collector of architectural and classical prints, Gordon had not found one outlet in London, which satisfied his requirements. Being a keen painter himself, with several successful exhibitions already under his belt, the natural progression was to open his own gallery.
Gallery 19 has always prided themselves on running perhaps a rather old fashioned type of business, aiming to build up an ongoing relationship with clients, avoiding the hard sell and simply being helpful and informative.
The location of Gallery 19 is of great importance to its character. 19 Kensington Court Place is at the end of Thackeray Street, which is shielded from the lively chaos of Kensington High Street by the tranquility of Kensington Square and Kensington Court. This gives the area a distinctly villagey feel, and the local community have always been incredibly supportive of the specialist sole traders in the area.
