Located at Earls Court Underground station, the iconic blue police box was made famous by the BBC Television series Dr. Who where 'the doctor' used one as a 'Tardis' (time and relative dimension in space) in order to travel in time and space.
The actual police boxes were common in London between 1929 and 1969, used as a means of communications between police on the beat and the police station. The introduction of portable radios saw them phased out in the late sixties.
This police box was introduced as part of a 'high tech' revival of the system in 1996 that never took off and is therefore the only remaining box in London.
