Wattlebrook Vineyard lies west of Pokolbin in the lower Hunter Valley of NSW, where the village of Broke has earned itself a significant reputation as the centre of quality grape-growing in the Hunter. The grapes grown in the Broke-Fordwich appellation are keenly sought by major wineries as well as forming the basis of boutique wines which commonly win more medals at the Hunter Wine Show than those from any other part of the region.
Lying in a scenic valley formed by the Wollombi Brook and Wollemi National Park, Wattlebrook Vineyard has 80 acres of grapes on prime land - 50 acres on volcanic soil from the Fordwich sill and 30 acres on sandy loam. It is developed with chardonnay, verdelho, semillon, cabernet sauvignon and shiraz vines.
Wattlebrook Vineyard supplies most of its grapes to major wineries but each year keeps a small portion of premium grapes for its own wines. These are treated with care and matured, where appropriate, in only the finest French and American oak.
