The Belfast Murals are situated in various different localities, the best of which can be found in loyalist and republican housing estates in Belfast and Derry. There are many different ways to see these political murals, either by an organised tour or simply by foot, depending on your personal preference.
The paint on the Belfast Murals lasts for about four to five years, after this period of time they are either touched up or new murals are painted over the top. The tradition of mural painting started in the Northern Ireland nearly a century ago, with loyalist artisans, painters etc who began to paint large outdoor murals every July. This is defiantly a must see for those visiting the area, an ideal photo opportunity.
