Wygston's House stands in Applegate which formed part of the main thoroughfare through Leicester. It is the best preserved Medieval house in Leicester. It is thought that it was built by Roger Wygston who was a wool merchant and also elected mayor three times.
Only part of the original house remains. The original structure was made from timber filled with wattle and plaster. The front of the half timbered hall has a long range of windows which, once held 28 panals of painted glass. A few of these are now on display in the Jewry Wall and Newarke Houses.
