Edradour is the smallest whisky distillery in Scotland, and possibly the smallest legal distillery of any kind in the World. John Reid and his two assistants hand-craft Edradour using traditional methods, without automation. Edradour produces just twelve casks of whisky a week during production times. The casks are laid down to mature for at least 10 years until the whisky reaches the peak quality.
With such a limited output, Edradour can be quite hard to find. In the UK, the only place guaranteed to stock Edradour is the distillery itself. If you are in the Highlands of Scotland be sure to drop in to the distillery to secure a bottle. Being the smallest and most picturesque distillery in Scotland, Edradour is a must see for visitors on the whisky trail.
The distillery is located in the heart of Tayside by the township of Pitlochry and surrounded by the wilds of the Grampians. Tours of Scotland's smallest distillery are completely free of charge. You'll be welcomed with a "wee dram" of Edradour in the Malt Barn and an introduction to the history of Edradour and the whisky maker's art. Then tour the distillery to see the traditional methods of whisky making, where you'll see Edradour being hand-crafted today as it was in Victorian times.
