Loch Leven is a fresh water loch situated by Perth and Kinross, Scotland. The loch has a diameter of about 16 km, and has been renowned as a brown trout fishery for well over a hundred years. The loch is home to a unique strain of brown trout, salmo levensis, which has been used to stock rivers, lakes and all over the world. All fishing on the loch is "fly only", and as there is no bank all fising must be from one of the fishery's boats from the loch's main pier, where facilities include a large lounge, bar, toilets and changing rooms.

The loch is also one of Europe's most important wetland sites with great numbers and variety of breeding wildfowl and breeding ground for up to 20,000 pinkfoot geese in the spring and autumn.

The loch's islands are home to the ruins of the old Priory of St Serfs, and Loch Leven Castle, famous as the last prison in Scotland of Mary Queen of Scots. It was from Loch Leven Castle that she escaped to England only to be beheaded by her cousin Elizabeth, Queen of England.
