Founded in 1977, The Warehouse Theatre is housed in a Victorian, oak-beamed former cement warehouse built in 1882. The Warehouse Theatre Company presents challenging new work through its own productions as well as co-producing with companies who share a commitment to the same exacting standards
Through the International Playwright Festival the theatre has discovered and launched the career of a host of successful writers and it has also had much success in transferring plays to the West End and other London theatres, and touring both nationally and internationally.
For some time a new theatre has been planned and this is now a reality as planning permission has been given for the development of the 'Gateway' site next to East Croydon station on which the theatre stands.
