Scotland's richest prehistoric landscape, the village of Kilmartin boasts more than 350 ancient monuments within a six-mile radius. 150 of them are prehistoric. There are enigmatic carved rocks, mysterious standing stones, impressive burial cairns and the fortress of the earliest Scottish Kings as well as ancient grave stones depicting warriors and early Christian crosses
This extraordinary concentration and diversity of monuments distinguishes the Kilmartin valley as an area of outstanding archaeological importance.
Kilmartin House Museum is a world-class centre for archaeology and landscape interpretation, which combines a Museum of Ancient Culture, and a unique and vibrant visitor centre including intense audio-visual experience "The Valley of Ghosts".
In 2007 Kilmartin House Museum will be 10 years old. It will also be the Year of Highland Culture. To celebrate this they are planning to stage an innovative multi-sited multivocal exhibition using ancient artefacts from the area which will be interpreted with text, poetry, illustration and art work
