This fascinating museum boasts an eclectic collection of local memorabilia and photographs showing many aspects of life in Oban and Lorn through the years, with a special feature explaining the strategic role played by the area during WWII when Oban Bay was home to Flying Boats.
Find out about Obans history, the fishing and maritime industries, the ferries the railway and local sport. There is an excellent array of Military badges and possibly the largest Flying Boat model in Scotland.
Founded in 1995 as an exhibition to mark the 50th anniversary of the ending of WWII it has since gone from strength to strength and has developed the scope of its displays.
Admission is free and visits from schools are encouraged when pupils can meet with volunteer staff that remember the War and are happy to share memories and knowledge.
