Within a 250 acre stock farm and pony-trekking centre you can stay at Ballivicar farm, which is an old farm building, now converted into apartments. Ballivicar farm is a small family farm, with cows, sheep, pigs and horses, chickens, ducks, etc. run on traditional, enviromentally friendly lines. You can enjoy pony-trekking and carriage riding (behind a Clydesdale) available on site and bird-watching, golf and diving all within easy access.
The farm is situated close to but quite separate from Port Ellen, it is within 15 minutes of Islay's principal ferry port, airport and its only golf course. The three most distinctive of Islay's six functioning distilleries, Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg are also within easy reach.
History surrounds the farm and island from iron-age forts, standing stones, deserted townships and celtic crosses, all within easy reach.
