Townsville Museum houses an interesting and comprehensive collection of artefacts from days gone by. Run by the Townsville Museum and Historical Society, which is a voluntary organisation supported by the Townsville City Council, the displays are dedicated exclusively to the history of Townsville.
Photographs and building plans of the city of Townsville are on display along with original local articles and cultural items. These items provide researchers with a valuable archive of resource material.
The Townsville Museum has 2 major display areas. Hall one is dedicated to the portrayal of Townsville people, individual people and local personalities. Hall two is used for larger exhibits and European settlement. It also includes the history of printing in Townsville.
Entry is free, and wheelchair access is provided.
