The Rhyl Miniature Railway first opened on 1st May 1911, and is now Britain's oldest miniature line. Many of today's passengers rode on it as children, and are now bringing the next generation to share in the experience.
The railway was originally designed by Henry Greenly, a talented engineer. He thought that the Marine Lake was an ideal place for a miniature line, and history has proved his judgement correct.
Since formation of Rhyl Steam Preservation Trust additional stock has arrived, the volunteer team has grown and passenger numbers have doubled. The new Station Building and Museum is now under construction, scheduled to open in May 2007.
