A former 1820's Coastguard's cottage located on a cliff with sea and country views. Great walks from the door including The Cleveland Way footpath which follows the cliff. A short walk takes you down to an extensive sandy beach and a pub serving good food. Recently refurbished, the cottage provides cosy accommodation for up to 4 people in one double bedroom and one twin.
The cottage history can be directly linked to the smuggling days of the early 1800s when Saltburn was notorious for smuggling. The nearby Smugglers Heritage Centre is worth a visit. The town of Satburn-by-the-sea just over a mile away exudes Victorian charm with it's impressive architecture, the oldest water balanced cliff lift in Britain, a pier and The Valley Gardens.
Makes a good base for exploring The Heritage Coastline of Captain Cook Country, a short drive takes you to the North York Moors National Park, Heartbeat Country, Whitby, Staithes, Robin Hood's Bay, or Durham and York.
