Restormel Castle lies just north of Lostwithiel village, overlooking the River Fowey. It is a Norman stone ringwork and bailey fortress; founded by Robert, count of Mortain.
The castle was home to Edward the Black Prince. It is in a huge circular shell keep with many buildings inside and is encased by a deep ditch.
Restormel castle is the perfect location for a quiet afternoon, the grounds are ideal for picnics and the views are magnificent across wooded valleys.
