Llandudno pier was opened in August 1877 at a length of 1,234 ft. Seven years later it was extended past the Grand Hotel and out to sea, taking the total length to 2,295 ft. It is the fifth longest pier in England & Wales, being just 10ft shorter than Ryde, Isle of Wight.
The pier extends gracefully into the north end of the bay, at the base of the Great Orme. The views back across the bay from the pier are outstanding. The pier is still without doubt one of the key attractions of Llandudno and it is easy to imagine the years gone by when strolling along this Victorian Structure.
It has a landing stage at the end of the pier that has been used for the Isle of Man ferry to pick up and drop off passengers.
