The Rockhana Gem and Mineral Festival is a unique event showcasing local fossicking sites and gemstones to be found in the Cloncurry Shire. Cloncurry is presently experiencing a mineral boom and the Rockhana is a celebration of the importance of mining to the town.

The minerals of the area are a significant factor in defining the nature of Cloncurry and the Great North West of Queensland, since Ernest Henry first discovered copper and developed the Great Australia Mine.

The Rockhana is a partnership between the Cloncurry Shire Council, Ernest Henry Mine and the Cloncurry and District Historical Society. Local clubs and businesses as well as visitors are encouraged to participate during the two day Gem and Mineral Festival and a variety of wares are offered to the public including tailgaters from gemfests, food stalls, children's activities and the Strike it rich competition to name a few.
