Darwin to Ambon Yacht Race

The tension builds during the months leading up to this anticipated event on Darwin's sailing calendar, with an almost festival atmosphere. When the day finally arrives, large crowds gather on Darwin's foreshore in the brilliant dry season sunshine, and jostle for vantage points to see a colourful array of sailing vessels start their adventure to Ambon in Indonesia. With cool dry season breezes filling the spinnakers, the yachts poised on the turquoise sea starting line, the signal to race is anxiously awaited. Then with a loud crack, the race is on.

The Darwin Ambon yacht Race and Rally starts at 11am.
