Accessible only by a 25km-unsealed road through a beautiful forest this is a place to recommend. The views rival (or beat) those at Katoomba and there are no coaches or tourists!
Just the drive itself makes the journey worthwhile (2 wheel drive is fine but think twice and ask a local if it is wet).
The area provides a wide range of bushwalking, from rugged and remote to the three day walks. Those attempting any of the wilderness walks should be totally self-reliant and use minimal impact bushwalking practices.
The lookout walk is the easiest and wheelchair accessible. A pleasant 10 minute stroll along well-formed tracks leads to the first lookout which overlooks the gorges of Kanangra Creek and beyond to the high tops of Mt Cloudmaker and the Blue Mountains escarpment.
