Garawarra State Conservation Area's heath and forest country borders the southern edge of Royal National Park - Australia's first national park. Garawarra's main attractions are its magnificent trees, springtime wildflower display, sub-tropical and warm temperate rainforest patches and colourful, prickly heaths. Echidnas and lyrebirds are common.
If you're looking for undisturbed peace and quiet, the park's two very basic picnic areas provide opportunities for relaxation in delightful woodland areas.
Horse riding is permitted on designated bridle tracks in the area west of Helensburgh where there are two riding schools.
