The extinct volcano of Mt Canobolas rises to 1395 m, the highest point between the Blue Mountains and Perth. Its slopes support some of the most diverse vegetation communities in the region and have many intriguing rock formations.

There are seven walking tracks, and a number of fantastic lookouts. Camp at Federal Falls, or take a break at the Tea House picnic area. Upcoming event: Great Volcanic Mountain Challenge fun run, 25 March 2007.
