Day 1 - Entering the region from the south you will travel the Brand Highway to Eneabba and the Arrowsmith River region, one of the world's richest wildflower areas, and the historic fishing and farming town of Dongara-Denison. The beaches here are superb with excellent swimming and windsurfing options. Other attractions include Russ Cottage and the Old Police Station, which houses the local tourist bureau.

Day 2 - Turning inland from the coast you head into true farming country. Properties in this area will farm both wheat and sheep and, in some cases, have accommodation for visitors interested in a farming way of life. You will pass through the centres of Mingenew, Morawa before trekking north and arriving at Mullewa. You may choose to stay at one of these towns or simply make a day trip of it back to Geraldton.

Day 3 - Coming into the city of Geraldton you will gain an appreciation of its size as a sprawling, modern centre which caters for a population in excess of 25,000 and is home to the world's largest lobster fishing fleet, which presents quite an imposing site. Geraldton is an ideal base from which to do day trips into the hinterland so you should plan a few days in the city. City attractions include St Francis Xavier Cathedral, the Museums and of course the great beaches. A day or half day to the historic Greenough Hamlet, 24 kilometres (15 miles) south, and surrounding attractions is also well worth the effort.

Day 4 - From Geraldton you head north passing through historic Northampton en route to Kalbarri and the famous Kalbarri National Park.

Kalbarri is set at the mouth of the Murchison River and despite being one of Western Australia's most popular holiday destinations, has retained its village atmosphere.

Soft adventure activities such as horseriding, abseiling, rock climbing, canoeing, fishing, whale watching are available, or visitors can take half and full day tours to view the spectacular scenery of the Murchison River at the Z Bend Gorge, which includes Natures Window, Hawke's Head Lookout and Ross Graham Lookout. Also the ruggedly beautiful coastal gorges such as Red Bluff (great surf spot!) and Castle Rock.

From Kalbarri you can travel on well maintained gravel roads to the Murchison Shire and Outback Mid West, south back to Geraldton or continue north to the Gascoyne Region.
