The 90 dolphins that live permanently in the calm waters of the beautiful Koombana Bay have been coming into the beach for decades. Now established as a place for humans to interact with nature, this unique experience is enhanced by the on site "Dolphin Discovery Centre" which acts as a research and information centre and provides visitors with a comprehensive insight into the lives and history of the dolphins. The Centre also manages the interaction between the dolphins and people.

A select group of dolphins is fed between 4% to 6% of their daily food requirements, however, the public are not allowed to participage in this feeding. Dolphin visits usually occur in the morning but as they are fed only a small amount they are not reliable visitors to the beach.

The interaction between humands and dolphins is supervised in a friendly and relaxed manner to ensure the welfare of the dolphins is maintained. All this results in a chance encounter being inspirational and memorable.
