Within the beautiful Collie River Valley there are a number of exceptional scenic drives waiting to be discovered.
During the wildflower season, which is usually from July to November, unique West Australia wildflowers and bush orchids grow profusely on the timber-covered slopes which lead to the river.
Local drives:
There is a 7km loop between Coalfields Highway at Allanson and Mungalup Road, south of Collie. This gravel road follows the Collie River and features jarrah and marri forests, tumbling rapids in winter and wildflowers in spring.
Lennard Drive is a one-way road (in a westerly direction, part bitumen part gravel) offering a spectacular drive. Along the way you can stop at a number of sites that are suitable for swimming, canoeing, white water rafting, bushwalking and picnicking.
Well known picnic spots in the valley include the Rapids, Big Rock and Little Rock, all wonderful places to enjoy the Collie River, deep in the forested valleys of the Wellington National Park.
Maps for all local drives can be found at Collie Visitor's Centre.
