The Great Forest Trees Drive is a 46km nature-based tourist drive taking in some of the most spectacular old growth forest in the Southwest of WA.
Located in the Shannon National Park between Pemberton and Walpole, The Great Forest Trees Drive takes a 48km route along former logging roads, railway lines and strategic firebreaks.
Suitable for use by family cars, the drive also has its own 'radio station' - visitors can tune in to an FM frequency and listen to information about the Shannon's wildlife, ecology, history and culture.
The drive, which is mainly one-way to enhance visitor safety, provides both a fantastic tourism experience and assists in conserving the attractions that visitors come to see.
Boardwalks have been installed at some sites including Snake Gully and Big Tree Grove, protecting the fragile roots of centuries old trees.
