Getting to Marysville & Mountains

By Bus: McKenzie's Tourist Services provides buses to Marysville on bus route 684. (MELBOURNE - MARYSVILLE - ALEXANDRA - EILDON).

By Car: From Tullamarine Airport and the western suburbs - (Approximate travel time - 2 hours).

Take the Tullamarine freeway to the Western Ring Road. Turn left onto the Ring Road and travel right to the end and turn left onto the Greensborough Bypass. Stay on Route 46 through Diamond Creek until you turn right onto route 9 at the roundabout in Wattle Glen. (Don't miss this turn!)

Continue to the end of the Wattle Glen - Kangaroo Ground road, then turn right and immediately left onto the Eltham-Yarra Glen road.Turn right onto the Melba Highway and then left onto the Healesville-Yarra Glen road. (Before the railway crossing)

Follow this scenic road, through the Yarra Valley & it's picturesque vineyards to Healesville, home of the internationally famous wildlife sanctuary.

From Healesville you head up through the famous Black Spur, your route is lined with towering mountain ash and lush tree ferns. There are public toilets and picnic areas at Maroondah Reservoir, Fernshaw and Dom Dom Saddle.

You stay on the Maroondah Highway until you turn right in Narbethong 10km to Marysville.

From Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs - (Approximate travel time - 1.5 hours)

Marysville is less than 100km from Melbourne's GPO. Travel along the Maroondah highway out through Lilydale, turning left at the intersection with the Warburton Highway.

Stay on the Maroondah highway, turning right after Coldstream Continue through the Yarra Valley & it's picturesque vineyards to Healesville, home of the internationally famous wildlife sanctuary.

You stay on the Maroondah Highway until you turn right in Narbethong 10km to Marysville. From Eildon, Yea or Alexandra (Approximate travel time - 40 minutes). From Yea and Alexandra, travel south down the Maroondah Highway through Acheron and Taggerty until you reach Buxton. Turn left in Buxton - 10km to Marysville.

From Eildon, travel west along the Goulburn Valley Highway to Thornton, turn left and join the Maroondah Highway at Taggerty.

Turn left and continue to Buxton. Turn left in Buxton - 10km to Marysville.
