Beach fishing yields dart, whiting, flathead, bream and taylor. Boat ramps are at Carlo Point and Bullock Point. Tin Can Bay estuary is good for fishing and crabbing.

Bushwalking and Bird Watching - Over 200 species of birds and wildlflowers are found in the Cooloola region. Cooloola National Park has walking trails.

4WD permits can be obtained from the Department of Environment office in Rainbow Beach daily. Noosa River ferry operates daily. Tides must be considered when travelling, the beach is the road. Cooloola Way is an alternative route through Kin Kin and Pomona - rough gravel for first 34 kilometres, only marginally quicker than going through Gympie, care to be taken after rain, towing not advisable. 4WD and car hire can be organised at Rainbow Beach, Noosa, Maroochy Airport or Brisbane Airport.

Paragliding and Hang-Gliding - Paragliding tandem intro flights, one day intro courses and full license courses available. Hang-gliding take off point at Carlo Sand Blow.

4WD Coloured Sands Tour - Half day tours to the Coloured Sands, Double Island Point, Lighthouse, Cherry Venture Shipwreck, Lake Freshwater and Cooloola National Park are available subject to tides. Canoeing - Half day eco-accredited canoeing discovery tours are available. Enjoy the natural tranquillity on the quiet waters of Tin Can Bay inlet and see dolphins, turtles, bird life and maybe a dugong. Horse Riding - Available onsite at Rainbow Shores Resort, horses are available for beginners to experienced riders. Guided tours are also available along beautiful Rainbow Beach. Special moonlight, sunrise or sunset rides are available on request.
Features
Swimming and Surfing - Members of the Rainbow Beach SLSC patrol the bathing area every weekend during the summer season, October to April whilst a professional lifeguard is on hand Monday to Friday during school summer holidays. There are no stinging jellyfish at Rainbow Beach.
