Carlo Sand Blow - Named by Captain Cook after Carlo, his deckhand. It is a sand mass covering 16 hectares. From the Rainbow Beach water tower at the top of Cooloola Drive, this walking track passes through woodlands to an expansive natural sand blow. This is an excellent spot to watch the sunrise or sunset, with magnificent views of the coloured sands, Double Island Point, Fraser Island, Tin Can Bay inlet and migrating whales from August to October. The Walking track is 600 metres one way.
Double Island Point - Named by Captain Cook in 1770. The lighthouse was commissioned in September 1885; a school opened there in 1887 and remained in operation until 1922. Access to the lighthouse is by walking track only (except Surf and Sand Safaris 4WD tour). The lighthouse became automatic in 1991, and is now under the control of the Department of Environment and Heritage.
Poona Lake - Take the walking track for 2.2 km to the scenic tea coloured lake surrounded by a sandy white beach.
