Pen y Gaer is an impressive hill fort found near the village of Llanbedr y Cennin, that is a short drive south of Conwy. The views from the hill extend up the Conwy Valley to the coast and take in the spectacular scenery of the Snowdonia National Park.

The hill fort is a particularly fascinating site, defended by two walls of stone and a chevaux-de-frise with an entrance to the west. Presumed to be additional defences against an infantry/cavalry attack, they are well worth seeing as they are very rare in Britain.
