Mt Richmond Forest Park

Start typing to see suggestions or browse Australia

Mount Richmond Forest Park comprises most of the steep native forest-covered mountain country between Nelson and Blenheim as well as areas of commercially forested pine plantations on public land. Mt Richmond Forest Park stretches 100 km along the rugged backbone of the Mt Richmond Range from St Arnaud all the way to the coast.

Mt Richmond Forest Park dominates the skyline from Blenheim and the Wairau Valley. Over 80% of the vast area is covered in dense forest with manuka, kanuka, bracken and gorse common around the margins of the park.

There are more than 436 kilometres of walking and tramping tracks in the park. The more popular longer walks include the Pelorus Track and for experienced trampers the Alpine Route. Short walks are available at most road-ends.
