Overlooking the picturesque Marburg Valley, Woodlands of Marburg estate belies an intriguing history and exudes the ambience and charm of a by-gone era. Only a short 45 minute drive from Brisbane and 15 minutes from Ipswich, the heritage listed property is nestled majestically amongst 250 acres of sweeping grounds.

Built in 1890, the plantation-style Woodlands Mansion with its original rich cedar walls and marble fireplaces, is the setting for the a-la-carte restaurant which prides itself on the quality and presentation of their modern Australian cuisine.

Since opening the gates to the public for the first time in 2002, Woodlands of Marburg has undergone restoration and renovation. The property now hosts Murder Mystery nights in the sandstone cellar, Christmas in July and Sunday lunches are regularly enjoyed on the verandah of the mansion or the deck of Jacaranda House.

The old building and views are spectacular, great place to spend a day exploring the surrounds but don't stay the night. We requested an ensuite room and given a room with adjoining bathroom to the room next door (it was late when we arrived so could not find anyone to swap our rooms), the accommodation appears to be a converted school and the walls are very thin and flimsy, anytime a door is closed in the building it resonates through all the walls, trying to sleep you can hear people in the next ...
