Mount Coolum, the dome shaped mountain that dominates the skyline of Queensland's beautiful Sunshine Coast. Rising 208m above the sugar cane fields and coastal resorts, after rain, waterfalls cascade down steep craggy cliffs to open eucalypt forest skirting the lower slopes.
Climb the steep, rough 800 metre trail up the mountain's eastern side from the carpark to the summit. Be rewarded with 360 degree views - most spectacular at sunrise. Be sure to carry water and snack food. In winter and spring, photograph wildflowers. It really is a spectacular sight to see.
