The Miners Cottage

This quaint little Miners Cottage is located within the historic "One Square Mile" precinct of old Charters Towers. The cottage is a great spot to visit and try your hand at panning for real alluvial gold. The gold you find will become your own and a very unique souvenir.

The cottage is a "snapshot" of goldfields history and architecture. Marvel at how the original miners dug the many miles of drives and underlies to access the quartz reefs under the streets. Pop in for a cuppa, sit on the veranda and listen to some born and bred local characters tell a "Yarn or two".

School groups and bus tours are especially catered for with a very informative narrative about this city and its colourful past, needless to say the "Hands On" nature of the gold panning activity is extremely popular with everyone.
