Here in the 'hard-yakka' heart of Gympie is where you'll discover the Woodworks Forestry & Timber Museum. The museum is designed to give visitors a fascinating insight into the timber industry of yesteryear.
Some main features here include an impressive display of old equipment from the colonial era such as a wooden washing machine, timber harvesting implements and bullock wagons. And one of its main attractions is a huge cross section of a 619 year old Kauri Pine. So come along and learn by watching working demonstrations.
Enjoy a picnic or BBQ on the museums grounds with friends and family, you can even buy wood-turned articles and other souvenirs as a special reminder of your trip to Woodworks. Demonstrations for school and other groups may be arranged for weekdays by appointment.
