Mudjimba (Old Woman) Island

Just off the Sunshine Coast from Mooloolaba is Mudjimba Island, also known to the locals as 'Old Woman Island'. The term refers to an Aboriginal legend in which a woman became stranded on the island, where she lived into old age.

Most activities enjoyed here include scuba diving and snorkelling where you can view the coral gardens just off Mudjimba Island which start at 2 metres depth. Also when conditions are right, the surfing community visits the 'old woman' as its classed as one of the best reef breaks in Australia.
