The Good Night Scrub National Park, covering an area of 7150ha, is a densely forested park in the Burnett Valley between Gin Gin and Gayndah.
Camping is permitted only on the Burnett River about 2km downstream from Kalliwa Hut, at the park's southern end.
An unusual name for a national park; it is locally said that the scrub used to be so thick you could not walk or ride a horse within the park, yet cattle could push their way through. When herds of cattle where being driven along the western edge, they sometimes broke away and vanished into the scrub. When this occurred it was said 'You can kiss your cattle goodnight', hence the name.
A bird watching and nature lover's paradise; the national park is home to 66 species of birds, 60 species of butterflies and many species of mammals and reptiles. Species include bower birds, forest kingfishers, & eastern whipbirds.
