Nelly Bay

Magnetic Island is located just off the coast of Townsville. The National Park here is home to Australia's largest colony of koalas and a huge range of other interesting wildlife. So if youre after a nature driven weekend away or just a quick getaway, Nelly Bay is offering both.

Nelly Bay is Magnetic Island's main residential bay and home to most of the Island's shopping and amenities. The Island features many harbors with an abundance of quiet beaches making it a favourite with cruising yachtsmen and tourists alike. Nelly Bay is the first point of access to the island, as both the passenger and car ferries terminate here.

It's also the perfect place to go swimming or snorkeling on the fringing coral reef. And towards the northern end of the beach you will find a children's playground and a coin-operated barbecue area and further along, sheltered picnic tables and toilets. Most transport facilities, from bicycles to car hire, are available for collection near the terminal.
