Our main focus here at Batreach wildlife centre, is to care for bats, flying foxes and other wildlife in need of some TLC. Owner and creator of the centre, Pam Tully, has a world of knowledge when it comes to caring for these animals as her work in this field began looking after flying foxes (fruit bats) in Cairns in the early 90's.
Pam later relocated to Kuranda at the top of the range over looking Cairns and it was then that Pam decided the public needed educating on her beloved bats and flying foxes so she got the necessary permits to open the centre up to the public and the final result is Batreach.
There is lots to learn about these cute little creatures and a tale to tell behind each one, so come in for a visit and open up your eyes to the wonderful world of bats and flying foxes. Batreach is funded solely by donations collected at the gate and all donations go towards feeding the animals in care and covering medical & veterinary costs to help heal the sick and injured.
