Australian designer Kathy Stefanac launched Oiko in 2005 with a vision to create environmentally sustainable fashion and textile-based home furnishings. Her work is made from traditional hand woven, hand dyed hemp, a fusion of contemporary Australian design and authentic South East Asian techniques. Oiko embraces fair trade principles by working closely with family owned enterprises in rural communities and supporting their cottage industries.
Oiko has a select range of wall panels, bed throws, cushion, table ware, journals, bags, wallets and lamps to enrich any home environment.
Stefanac works out of her studio gallery in Brunswick Heads NSW and sends to outlets all over Australia. Visit the studio gallery to view her collection, witness the design process and sift through her samples and seconds.
Each month at the Studio Open Day, visitors have the opportunity to create a new sustainable textile project over seen by Kathy from Oiko.
