Hope Islands National Park is made up of four islands, East and West Hope Islands, Struck Island and Snapper Island. East and West Hope Islands are 8-10km offshore, approximately 37km south-east of Cooktown and 22km north-east of the nearest settlements of Ayton and Wujal Wujal.
Bush camp at one of four campsites on East Hope Island. Watch the birdlife along the shore. Go snorkelling or diving to discover amazing reef life. Make use of public moorings and throw in a fishing line.
Access to the islands is either via private vessels or with permitted commercial operators, and is only possible in fair weather. The islands are within a day's sailing from Cairns and are considered among the most important bird-nesting sites in the Cairns Section of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
