Caernarfon Town Football Club is a full member of the Football Association of Wales and the Welsh Premier (sponsored by Vauxhall Masterfit Retailers). The club's nickname "The Canaries" dates back to the yellow and green colours worn in Victorian times. In 1876, an athletics club was formed in Caernarfon to take part in football and cricket, although as early as 1787 Old Karnarvon reported that "the Sunday amusements of the people were football, cockfighting and other similar games".
The club has a strong following and a good structure for the future; the academy is committed to providing various youth structures for players of all abilities.
