Creeks, waterfalls and a variety of vegetation types are protected in Kroombit Tops National Park and Forest Reserve on the 800-900 metre high Kroombit Tops Plateau.

This large protected area is the headwaters for many creeks and a refuge for wildlife including tropical and subtropical rainforest species and animals close to the limit of their usual range.

The Beautiful Betsy Walk travels from the four-wheel-drive scenic drive and leads to the site of a 1945 World War II bomber plane, "Beautiful Betsy" crash on the western side of the plateau. Read the interpretive signage to learn more about this tragedy and how the crash site was discovered many years later.
