Bodmin RFC was first formed in the second half of the 1880s and in this respect was the first rugby club to formed in the county. All the games were played on the Beacon, the highest landmark in the town.
Over the years many players from the club have represented the county at various levels. The most honoured player to emerge and progress from the club has been Andy Reed who played for and captained Scotland as well as playing for the British Lions.
Currently the clubs runs three senior sides as well as the youth section with the occasional Vets game.
