Grey Sands Vineyard overlooks the Tamar Valley at Glengarry, northern Tasmania. Established in 1989, Grey Sands is a family-owned vineyard specialising in intensely flavoured wines, suitable for cellaring.
The unirrigated, 2.5-hectare vineyard produces close-planted vines of pinot gris, pinot noir and merlot. You can visit the cellar door by appointment, or at advertised times. Sample fine Tasmanian wine while enjoying views of the valley, or explore the gardens before taking home a few bottles of your favourite vintage.
Glengarry is a 30-minute drive northwest of Launceston, on the B71, Frankford Highway.
The Tamar Valley produces around 40 per cent of Tasmania's wines. You can follow the Tamar Valley Wine Route and visit small, boutique vineyards and state-of-the-art wineries to taste Tasmania's world-class, cool climate wines.
