Dotted around the Derwent Valley are a collection of old Oast houses, originally used to dry hops. The Oast house was one of these, but now functions as a museum, gift shop, craft market and tea room. The Hop Museum illustrates the methods of beer brewing, dating since the 6th century B.C, to today. The craft market is also worth a peek. Situated on the oast cooling floor it offers a range of local produce and products from the Derwent Valley and further afield. Locally grown vegetables, home made jams, brewed ales, leadlight jewellery, wood ware and craft are all waiting to be discovered. The Oast House Restaurant and Cafe, is fully licensed and serves morning and afternoon teas and lunch, seven days a week.
