The program coordinates well-established shorebird scientists from all corners of the globe. This worldwide experience opens up a wealth of information and an observatory of the changing fates of the world's shorebird populations and the habitats upon which they depend for their existence.

The programme is always on the look out for volunteers to assist.

*The recording of colour-banded birds by casual observers is immensely useful to the project. If you are visiting Roebuck Bay or the Broome Bird Observatory jot down some of the bird life and send the details in. Only 3 species are marked with the individual colour-band scheme (one flag and four colour-bands) Bar-tailed Godwit, Great Knot and Red Knot. The position of the yellow flag is vital as well as the colour-bands.
