Princess Margaret Rose Cave, set in the natural bush surrounds of the Lower Glenelg National Park, is one of the most highly decorated caves in Australia - 30mins from Mt Gambier and 15mins from Nelson, close to the VIC/SA border.
The cave features stalactites, stalagmites, rimstone pools, cave coral, and a variety of other amazing formations. Perhaps the most unusual of all formations in the cave are the helictites; defying gravity, these long, thin formations grow in all different directions.
Features of the Visitors Centre include a kiosk, visual displays and an auditorium, as well as 3 basic bush cabins for hire - booking essential.
Also available, 45min guided tours with a professional interpretive officer - highlighting some of the caves more unusual features.
