Princess Margaret Rose Cave, set in the natural bush surrounds of the Lower Glenelg National Park, is one of the most highly decorated caves in Australia - 30mins from Mt Gambier and 15mins from Nelson, close to the VIC/SA border.

The cave features stalactites, stalagmites, rimstone pools, cave coral, and a variety of other amazing formations. Perhaps the most unusual of all formations in the cave are the helictites; defying gravity, these long, thin formations grow in all different directions.

Features of the Visitors Centre include a kiosk, visual displays and an auditorium, as well as 3 basic bush cabins for hire - booking essential.

Also available, 45min guided tours with a professional interpretive officer - highlighting some of the caves more unusual features.

Details

Please Note
The cave itself is accessed via steep and slippery stairs, and is therefore poorly accessible for people with limited mobility. For people with a disability, the limestone caves in nearby Mount Gambier offer far better access.
