Corn Trail Walk

Located within the Buckenbowra State Forest, the Corn Trail Walk was first used in the 1830s by the settlers of the valley to facilitate trade with their neighbours on the Southern Tablelands. When the Clyde Mountain Road connecting Braidwood to Nelligen was opened, the track fell into ruin and by the 1920s was completely overgrown. In 1987 the Bicentennial Authority funded the reconstruction of the trail.

Nowadays the 12.5-km walking and horse riding track passes through a large steep area of eucalypt forest to the head of the Bolero Valley. While the top of the mountain is often enveloped in mist the lower slopes are usually sunny. The route is well marked out, and stone has been placed along the edges to ensure that users take the right path. Allow four to seven hours and drop by any of the local visitors centres for a good map. It's always a good idea to contact the Forestry Commission before embarking on any kind of trail for the latest condition reports.
