Built in 1879, Tacking Point Lighthouse was one of a series of five small navigational lighthouses of this design.

The Keeper was withdrawn in 1919 when the light was replaced by automatic flashing lights.

Seen from the lighthouse is the Lighthouse Keeper's Cottage.
